Math Bingo
Using the design below, construct Bingo cards on square pieces of cardboard. Make enough for there to be one card for each group. Then copy each fraction, decimal, or percent shown in the list below onto a small slip of paper. Fold each piece of paper and place inside the paper bag.
One student is chosen as the caller. This student reaches into the bag and randomly selects a fraction, decimal, or percent, without replacement, to fill each square on the first group's Bingo card. The group will fill its card starting with the first row, working from left to right, and then continuing in the same manner with each of the next four rows. After all the squares on that group's card are filled, the caller will return the slips of paper to the bag, mix them, and continue around the room until all cards are filled.
Play begins with the caller selecting a fraction, decimal, or percent from the bag and announcing it to the class. Each group then uses markers to cover that fraction, decimal, or percent and any others equal in value appearing on their card. The caller records the selection on the chalkboard, sets the slip of paper aside, and continues to select and call out fractions, decimals, or percents.
The first group to cover 5 squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, declares Bingo. (The center square marked with a star is free.) This group then verifies their win by writing those fractions, decimals, or percents appearing on their card next to the appropriate ones with the same value on the chalkboard. If any of those the group lists are found not to have an equivalent value to the ones called, that group is disqualified, and the game continues.
Play several rounds changing callers each round.
