Group Activity Cards
|
Use groups of 3.
Materials: Ruler, notebook paper
|
You Will Find it on the Surface |
Have each group find a different example of a rectangular prism in the room. One group member is to make both a three-dimensional sketch of the object and a sketch of the object's net. Another member is to measure and record the dimensions of the actual object, labeling them on the sketch. The third member is to calculate the surface area of the object.
When all group members have completed their tasks, have groups swap objects and rotate rolls within their groups. Then have groups compare and discuss any discrepancies between their drawings and measurements of the same object.
