|A Taxing Situation
Read the following.
Many cities have a hotel tax. The rate for this type of tax is usually higher than the city's sales tax. So when you and other tourists visit a city, some of the money you spend goes to providing services for the residents of that city.
Each group member looks in a newspaper to find the cost of an overnight stay at a hotel in a city he or she would like to visit. Decide how many nights you would like to stay in the hotel. Then figure the bill for your stay. Assume that there are no additional charges for movies, meals, or phone calls and that the city's hotel tax is 12%.
