A Bright Idea |
A random number table contains the digits 0 through 9 in random order. In the random number table below, the digits are arranged in groups of four.
Read the following problem.
At a factory that makes light bulbs the probability that a bulb will be defective is . Estimate the probability that at least two of the bulbs in a four-pack are defective.
You know that you can estimate probability by doing a simulation. You can use the random number table on the back of this card to do a simulation. Since one bulb out of every ten is defective, you can have one of the ten digits in the random number table represent a defective bulb. The groups of four digits can represent four-packs of bulbs.
Work together to solve the problem.
