You're Hired

Suppose you are interviewing for a job. Your employer offers you the choice of two different options for your pay. The first option is to pay you $9.00 per hour and give you a raise of $0.25 every year. The second option is to pay you $9.50 per hour and give you a raise of $0.15 every year. First, find a function for each option. Let y = the amount you will make per hour and x = the number of years you work. After writing the function determine the domain that you will use. Finally, make a table for each function where x will be your first column with your domain listings and y will be your second column with the range listing. Fill in the table using your graphing calculator.

Which option should you choose? Why?
