Geometry

Use groups of 4.
Materials: Spinners, grid paper
Keep Your Distance

Label equal sections of two spinners "-2," "-1," "0," "1," "2," "3," "4," "5." Decide which spinner will stand for x-coordinates and which spinner will stand for y-coordinates. Draw a coordinate plane (x- and y-axes) on a sheet of grid paper.

Work in pairs. In turn, each partner spins both spinners and writes the resulting ordered pair. Both partners then plot their points and determine the distance between them. The pair with the greater distance wins the round. Play several rounds.
