Group Activity Cards

Numbers
and Operations

Number of players: 4
Materials: Index cards, spinner
A Real Winner

Copy onto cards the real numbers shown below, one per card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile. Label the sections of a spinner "Real numbers," "Irrational numbers," "Rational numbers," "Integers," "Whole numbers," "Natural numbers."

Each group member selects two cards from the pile and places them face up. One group member spins the spinner and takes all the cards showing numbers belonging to the set of numbers indicated. Keep any cards not taken by the group member who spun the spinner. Continue in the same way, taking turns at the spinner, until no cards remain in the pile. The group member who has the most cards at the end wins. Shuffle the cards and play again if time allows.
