Reflecting on Dilations

Each partner draws the coordinate plane shown below on grid paper.

One partner graphs ABC with vertices A(0,0), B(4,5), and C(4,0). The other partner graphs DEF with vertices D(0,0), E(5,4), and F(5,0). Each partner then graphs the dilation of his or her figure with a scale factor of 2.

Draw the reflections of triangles ABC and A'B'C' or DEF and D'E'F' over the x-axis. Then draw the reflection of the entire figure in quadrants I and IV over the y-axis. Use colored pencils to shade the resulting triangles. Compare your work with the work done by your partner.
