Birthday Number Line

Draw a calendar line like the one shown below. Make the
space between the marks for the months about two
centimeters. Notice that January is the zero point on this line
and July through December are represented by negative integers.
February through June are represented by positive integers.

Survey your classmates to find out the month in which
each of them
was born. When you have done this, record your
data onthe calendar line by putting an x above the month for
each student. If two or more students have a birthday falling in
the same month, line up the additional x's abovethe first one in
a column. Then answer the questions below based on the
information from your calendar line.
