Solve the following perplexing problem:

On an airplane, Mr. Smith, Mr. Robinson, and Ms. Jones are the
pilot, copilot, and navigator—but not necessarily in that order.
Three passengers who have names of Mr. Smith, Mr. Robinson,
and Ms. Jones are also on the airplane.

Use the following clues to determine the name of the
navigator:

CLUES:

  1. Mr. Robinson lives in New York.
  2. The copilot lives halfway between New York and Los Angeles.
  3. Ms. Jones earns exactly $45,000 per year.
  4. The copilot's nearest neighbor, one of the passengers, earns
    exactly three times as much as the copilot.
  5. Mr. Smith beats the pilot when playing cards.
  6. The passenger whose name is the same as the copilot lives
    in Los Angeles.
