Investigate Layers of Sound
 Introduction
Have you ever listened to a favorite song and felt
as if the sound of the music wrapped you up in a blanket? Music can pull
you into a song this way through layers of sound, or texture.
The activities in this project provide opportunities
to arrange a song that features distinct layers of music. Also, you will
work with the unusual 7/4 meter signature.
In this project,
you will:
- Explore and practice 7/4 meter.
- Experiment with different combinations of musical
layers.
- Make decisions about layering different musical
parts within a song.
- Create music in one of the following ways: write
and sing original lyrics to a song; improvise melodically and rhythmically
in 7/4 meter.
