Academic Connections:

Learning to Live With Technology and Health

Teach Me!

Goal:

In this Academic Connection you will research health problems that may be caused by the way people use (or misuse) computers and keyboards. You will also learn ways to avoid such health problems.

Background:

People who misuse computers or who use computers a lot can harm their health. You may know someone who has a computer-related disease. That disease could be carpal tunnel syndrome, back problems, eyestrain, or something else.

For years, many people have been worried about computers, keyboarding, and health issues. Doctors, managers, workers, federal government employees, teachers, parents, and students all want to know how to avoid health problems related to computer use. Now you will get an opportunity to study two real computer-related health problems and to share the information you find.

If you are ready to help yourself learn to stay healthy while you use your computer as much as you want or need, please go to the Let Me Try It! part of this Health and Physical Education Academic Connection.
