Module 7: Making Waves

A Study of Light and Sound

Description
In this module students will learn about waves and wave phenomena. Students will study the general characteristics of waves, including frequency, amplitude, and wavelength, through the example of mechanical waves in water and strings. Students will apply these principles to other kinds of waves, including sound, visible light, and the rest of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Investigations
For each investigation, the science or sciences that form the principal focus of that investigation are noted.

Investigation 1: Wave Power Physics and Earth/Space
Investigation 2: Rushing Waves Physics
Investigation 3: When Wave Meets Wave Physics
Investigation 4: Changing the Tune Physics and Earth/Space
Investigation 5: Sounding Off Physics
Investigation 6: Do You Hear What I Hear? Biology
Investigation 7: What is Light? Physics
Investigation 8: What's in a Color? Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Investigation 9: Through the Lens Physics and Biology
Investigation 10: Invisible Waves Physics and Earth/Space
