Description
In this module students will learn how animals fly and how birds and insects have adapted to flight. Students will study the physical principles that make flight possible and how atmospheric conditions affect flight. Students will also examine the design and construction of aircraft and will see how some aspects of meteorology are related to the performance of aircraft.

Investigations
For each investigation, the science or sciences that form the principal focus of that investigation are noted.

Investigation 1: Takeoff Biology and Physics
Investigation 2: Forces of Flight Biology and Physics
Investigation 3: Lightening the Load Biology and Chemistry
Investigation 4: Up, Up, and Away Physics and Earth/Space
Investigation 5: Free Fall Physics
Investigation 6: Airplane-Design Contest Physics and Earth/Space
Investigation 7: The Light Stuff Chemistry and Physics
