Science Probe I Technology Activities
Chapter 21
Internet
Use an Internet search to find a climatograph or climate
information about Las Vegas, Nevada; Phoenix, Arizona; New Orleans, Louisiana;
Kansas City, Missouri; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the city in which you
live. It might also be helpful to correspond through e-mail or talk in
a web discussion site with a meteorologist. Prepare a presentation to
inform your classmates of your findings. Below is a web site to get you
started:

Application Software
Activity 21A – Use a word processing
program to set up the three-column table as directed in this activity
and key your information into it. Transfer these notes to a presentation
program to share your answers with your classmates.
Activity 21B – Use a word processing
program to prepare and complete the table in Part I of this activity.
Obtain a copy of Figure 21.3 from your teacher. Use a scanner to create
a digital image of the figure. Import this digital image into a graphics
program and save it in the format required by the application software.
Use this drawing to perform Part II of this activity. When you have completed
the procedure for Part II, import your work into the word processing document
from Part I. Complete the Discussion questions. Export this document into
a presentation program, and use this program to share your work with classmates.
Print the word processing document, and secure it in your SCIENCE PROBE
Logbook.
Activity 21C – Conduct an Internet
search to find the geographical information needed for this activity.
In Part II, enter the data shown in this activity into a spreadsheet program.
Use the graphing feature to make the climatograph for Spokane, Washington.
Print the data table and climatograph; then secure them in your SCIENCE
PROBE Logbook where you will answer the discussion questions for this
activity.
Activity 21E – Use a word processing
program to write the letter to a friend as described in this activity.
Print the letter, and secure it in your SCIENCE PROBE Logbook.
