Student Activities: Design a Veterans Day Celebration for Your School

Veterans Day is approaching, and you have been elected to serve on a committee that is in charge of planning a Veterans Day celebration for your school. You and the other committee members are to choose at least four different activities to celebrate the holiday in your school and design a pamphlet that is to be distributed to the students and teachers in your building. One of the activities should be an indoor ceremony attended by the entire school. Make sure the pamphlet indicates what will occur during this ceremony. The pamphlet should outline the activities of the day in detail and indicate where and when the activities will take place. Your committee can use the Web site Celebrating America’s Freedoms: Activities for Veterans Day to generate ideas for the activities, but be creative—use your own imagination as well.

Remember to include the following items in your pamphlet:

  1. at least four different Veterans Day activities, one of which is an indoor assembly
  2. detailed information about the indoor assembly: what events will take place and in what order
  3. clear and detailed information about the other activities
  4. explanations of when and where each of the activities will occur

In addition, you should include:

  1. a title for the pamphlet
  2. the date
  3. your school’s name
  4. appropriate illustrations

Your pamphlet should be attractive and visually pleasing. Make sure to use correct grammar and spelling.
