Introduction
In this chapter students read about the many countries of
Southeast Asia. One of those countries, Indonesia, is the
largest archipelago in the world. It is also one of the world's
most densely populated countries.
Lesson Description
In this lesson students will visit the CIA World Factbook
Web site. This site contains listings for every country in
the world. Each listing contains maps and a wealth of basic
information. Students will use the map of Indonesia to answer
a series of questions. Then they will browse through the rest
of the information on Indonesia to choose at least ten facts
that they think are important. They will use this information
to compile a fact sheet on Indonesia.
National Geography Standards:
Standard 1: The geographically informed person knows and understands
how to use maps and other geographic representations, tools,
and technologies to acquire, process, and report information
from a spatial perspective.
Standard 4: The geographically informed person knows and understands
the physical and human characteristics of places.
Instructional Objectives
- The student will be able to interpret information from
a map of Indonesia.
- The student will be able to review information and choose
the most important facts.
