Chapter 10: Thinking About Issues of Race and Ethnicity

For many Americans, race and ethnicity are more than academic issues-they are deeply personal issues that affect their daily lives. For many, race and ethnicity are a source of strength and pride, but unfortunately, race and ethnicity can also be a source of challenge. While assimilation would mean an end to unfairness, it would also mean an end to the diversity that is one of our country's strengths.

Further explore racial and ethnic issues on the Web by visiting SocioSite at www.pscw.uva.nl/sociosite/topics/ethnic.html Take notes on what you read, and prepare a classroom presentation on one particular issue and its possible solutions. Use two visual aids, such as charts or graphs, to help you. Give your presentation to the class.
