Introduction
Students have read about America's struggle with the pirates
of the Barbary Coast. In this lesson, students will learn
how pirates such as Blackbeard terrorized traders and crews.
Lesson
Description
Students will visit the North Carolina Division of Archives
and History Home Page to learn about Blackbeard. They will
view maps of the excavation of his ship, the Queen Anne's
Revenge, and they will see some of the artifacts. They will
then answer questions about what they have learned.

Objectives
1. Students will distinguish fact from fiction about Blackbeard.
2. Students will identify some of the weapons used in eighteenth
century maritime warfare.
