Introduction
     In this chapter you learned that dramatic changes in Europe sparked an interest in trade. The buying and selling of goods not only improved the quality of life for many people, it also resulted in an exchange of ideas. Muslim merchants shared their rich culture and an elaborate system of writing and numbering. To learn more about the Muslims' writing technique, log onto the Internet.
