Introduction
Students
have read about the Spanish explorers. In this lesson, students
will read entries from Hernando de Soto's diary and see how
his expectations were different from what he encountered in
the New World.

Description
Students will examine a map and journal entries about Hernando
de Soto's journey through the Southeast. They will then answer
four questions about the map and text.

Objectives
1. Students will be able to accurately read and answer questions
about a map.
2. Students will use their understanding of Spanish exploration
to record significant information about a journey of discovery.
