Introduction
Students have read about America's growth as an industrial
nation and the flood of immigrants who helped make that growth
possible. In this lesson, students will view photos of Ellis
Island and learn unusual facts about the Statue of Liberty.
Lesson
Description
Students will use information from the National Park Service
Web site to answer questions about the Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island. They will also read about the key players in
the building of the great monument.
Instructional
Objectives
1. Students will be able to locate Ellis Island and identify
some of the people who helped build the Statue of Liberty.
2. Students will be able to discuss these two important American
symbols.
3. Students will be able to define the role immigrants played
in the building of America.
