• Familiarize students with the geography of the French West Indies

• Teach students more about Martinique through a virtual tour of the island

Notes

• In this activity, students are asked to gather information about Martinique by visiting several Web sites. The French at some of the sites is difficult. Tell students to skim the text for the important information.

• Students have to visit more than one site to gather all the information they need.

• This activity can become a game if done in teams. The goal is to be the first team to gather all the information.

Expansion

• If students are able to download the photos and print them out, have them prepare a travel brochure about their favorite town (village, beach) in Martinique. Display the brochures in the classroom. Have students vote on which tourist site is the most interesting, beautiful, etc.
