Components
Features
- Invitation to Languages makes
your students' first exposure to foreign language a positive one,
because of interesting topics and engaging activities.
- Each chapter (Spanish, French, Italian,
Latin, German, and Japanese) can stand alone, allowing flexibility
in the classroom.
- Each chapter contains several theme-based
lessons covering such topics as greetings, telling time, weather
expressions, the home, the family, and sports.
- The introduction to the text contains
four preparatory lessons that help your students focus on the
concept of language in general: "Communication," "Languages of
the World," "Words," and "The Structure of Languages."
- The chapters covering the most commonly-taught
languages-Spanish and French-are expanded, offering approximately
twice as many theme-based lessons.

Ancillary Components
- Activities Workbook and Student Tape
Manual SE: Both components are in one volume. Workbook contains
many activities in "game" formats. Tape Manual contains "Listen
and repeat," "Listen and answer," and "Listen and choose" activities.

book for the teachers contains answers for all of the workbook
activities.
- Tape Manual, TE: Separate book
for the teachers contains answers for all of the tape activities.
- Transparency Binder: 48 full-color
transparencies from the Student Text can be used to teach, practice,
and review. Some transparencies can be used for more than one
language.
- Video Script: Script contains the complete
transcript for the video program.

Multimedia
Components
- Video Program: Videocassette
or videodisc format is for French and Spanish only.
- Audio Program: Cassette or CD format
for all languages. Native speakers present all of the vocabulary
and dialogues from the text together with listening, speaking,
and writing activities.
Note: There is no formal testing program.
