REPASO A-F
El mundo hispanoamericano

Student Activity

Objective
  • Introduce students to the Latin American countries

Notes

  • The Internet activity for Chapter 1 of Bienvenidos introduced students to cities in various regions of Spain. Now students will have the chance to explore the Hispanic countries of the Americas. They choose one country and find out where it's located, what its main cities and tourist attractions are, what festivals are celebrated there, etc.

  • This activity could be the start of a year-long project with each student focusing on the Latin American country of his or her choice. Have students keep files of the information they gather on their countries throughout the year.

  • By now, most students will understand the gist of the information they read at the Spanish Web sites, though many details will no doubt still elude them. Reassure students that they do not need to understand everything they read. If they can answer the questions on their worksheet, they have successfully completed the task at hand.

Expansion

  • If students are able to download the photos and print them out, have them prepare travel brochures about the countries they have chosen. Display the brochures along with maps of the chosen countries in the classroom. Have students vote on which country is the most interesting, beautiful, etc.
