The
Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Ernest Gaines
Having
lived 110 years, Jane Pittman is a woman with many stories
to tell. Born into slavery, she lives through the Civil
War, Reconstruction, life on a Southern plantation, and
the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. Her strength and
courage serve as models to those around her.
