Bears are known as animals that hibernate. (1) Ironically, though. Bears do not actually hibernate. In fact, they fall into a deep sleep during the winter. A bear's body temperature will drop from 100 degrees to 93 degrees during its "hibernation." A true hibernator will have a body temperature that is the same temperature as the surrounding environment. (3) Small animals can hibernate because their bodies warm and cool so quickly. Bears are large animals, so it requires a lot of energy for them to change body temperature.
