The following rules will help you add suffixes to words that end in y.
- Change the y to i if a consonant precedes the y.
- pry + ed = pried
- fancy + ful = fanciful
- rely + es = relies
- Keep the y when adding -ing.
- pry + ing = prying
- Keep the y that is preceded by a vowel.
- play + ful = playful
- joy + ous = joyous
- relay + s = relays
