Architecture

Architecture is often described as the art and technique of designing and building. As with some other arts, architecture fulfills both aesthetic and practical goals.  Thus, architecture includes purely functional structures and purely decorative ones with no practical function. All but the simplest cultures have developed characteristic forms of architecture. More complex societies demonstrate a great variety of styles, techniques, and purposes that shape their buildings.
