Leo and Diane Dillon

Lionel John Dillon, Jr., and Diane Dillon (Diane Claire Sorber) were born 11 days
apart in March of 1933 on opposite coasts. He grew up in Brooklyn; she was born
and raised in California. They met in 1953 while attending Parsons School of Design
in New York City. They married in 1957 and developed their art careers as
illustrators of children’s books

The Dillons’ art is collaborative by nature. Over forty years (and four decades of
marriage), they have developed their own distinctive style and created thousands of
images and hundreds of books, many of which have won awards.
