Audrey Flack
United States, b. 1931

Born in New York on May 30, 1931, Audrey Flack is an American painter,
draftswoman, and sculptor. She studied at Yale and the Institute of Fine Arts, New
York University. It was there that she was influenced by Abstract Expressionism.

In the early 1970s, she drew on family photographs and then photographs of public
figures from magazines. She was concerned with feminist issues. She painted still
lifes in a photorealistic style. Her indoor/outdoor sculptures are based on female
deities.
