Wayne Thiebaud

American painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Wayne Thiebaud (tee-bo) was born in
Mesa, Arizona, on November 15, 1920. While studying at Long Beach Polytechnic
High School, he worked briefly at Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles.

In 1938, he studied commercial art at a trade school and then worked as a cartoonist
in Long Beach. He also worked as a college art instructor. He experimented with
various styles of painting, including Abstract Expressionist and Pop Art.
