National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration NHTSA is a government office that
notifies the public on automotive safety issues such as crash
tests, air bags, seat belts, anti-lock brakes, driving
distractions, tire problems, and other considerations in
automotive safety.
United States Department
of Transportation DOT is a government office that
develops all national policies on transportation. DOT also
conducts transportation-related research to make sure vehicles
are completely safe for public use.
United States Department of
Labor This is a federal organization that provides
information and regulations about labor. It protects workers
with federal laws involving safe and healthful working
conditions; wages and overtime; freedom from discrimination;
unemployment insurance; and other kinds of support.
Center to Protect Workers’
Rights The CPWR researches and informs workers about
health and safety issues, as well as related economic
issues.

Ford/AAA Student Auto
Skills This annual competition, co-sponsored by Ford
Motor Company and the American Automobile Association,
showcases the skills of high school automotive students.
Ford ASSET Program The
Ford ASSET (Automotive Student Service Educational Training)
program enables students to receive on-the-job training at a
sponsoring dealership while earning an associate’s degree in
automotive technology.
AYES Students in the AYES
program receive on-the-job training at automotive dealerships
while earning their high school diplomas.
Toyota Technical Education
Network (T-TEN) The T-TEN program gives students the
opportunity to learn Toyota-specific aspects of auto repair
while completing their post-secondary education.
